Notes

ASSC

Grumman / Boeing

The inclusion of the Grumman/Boeing team in the ASSC studies has always been the subject of some confusion. Part of this stems from the fact that their contract was issued by MSC, not MSFC; the contract was also for twice the amount of the other ASSC contracts. In many respects, it appears that MSC decided to issue a third Phase B contract and chose the ASSC to accomplish it.

Grumman developed several designs under its ASSC contract; the H-33 Orbiter was designed in partnership with Boeing.
