Delta’s mission is space research. This 90-foot National Aeronautics and Space Administration rocket is designed for a variety of orbital and space probe missions. All three stages are built by Douglas. The first is a modified Thor booster. Second and third stages (shown separating from first stage) are specially developed by Douglas for Delta.
Important NASA Programs using Delta include lunar probes, weather and navigational satellites, and satellites to explore the radiation belt, solar energy, atmospheric structure and the ionosphere.
